GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation on Monday identified the man shot and killed by a Colorado State Patrol officer on Thanksgiving Day and said he pulled a gun before he was shot.

CBI identified the man shot and killed by the trooper as Patrick Michael Langhoff, 59. CBI said the 7th Judicial Critical Incident Investigative Team, which is investigating the shooting, found that Langhoff pulled a gun on the trooper before he was shot.

CBI said CSP Sgt. Joshua Boden was the trooper involved in the shooting. He has been with the state patrol since 2005 and was placed on standard paid leave after the shooting.

According to police and CBI, Boden was called to mile marker 23 on Colorado State Highway 135 in Gunnison County regarding a single-vehicle crash around 4 p.m. on Thursday.

It’s still unclear exactly what happened between then and the shooting, and the authorities have not released further information as the investigation remains ongoing.
