STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Three people are being held on first-degree murder charges after a man’s bloody body was found in the Routt National Forest on Oct. 14.

William Ellifritz, Brooke Forquer and Skyla Piccolo-Laabs were advised on first-degree murder charges Tuesday in Routt County Court, in connection to the death of Elliot Stahl, whose remains were found southwest of the Town of Yampa last Monday by a civilian in the area.

The defendants, who were arrested Saturday, are being held without bond pending a hearing to determine whether enough evidence exists to hold them further, according to a spokesperson from the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23.

The District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case and anticipates filing formal charges this week, a news release from the DA’s office states.
