DENVER—Many hospitals are not yet distributing vaccines to those 70 and over nearly a week after the governor announced the age group was eligible.

HealthOne hospitals tweeted “Due to limited inventory, the vaccine is NOT currently available for members of the community.”

Many hospitals are still trying to vaccinate health care workers.

Denver Health says it hopes to start reaching out to those 70 and older this week.

Centura Health and UCHealth tell us they will contact patients through their online system.

“We are running vaccination clinics and we are communicating to our patients electronically, sending invitations in a random fashion. We set up both appointments at the same time the first and the second dose,” said Dr. Richard Zane, the Chief of Emergency Medicine at UCHealth.

The Colorado Hospital Association says while some hospitals with smaller populations got through Phase 1A quickly, others will take more time. Summit County is already administering the vaccine to those 70 and older through drive-up sites.

Stay up to date by checking your hospital and doctor's website to learn more about their vaccination plan. They are being inundated with calls, so be patient.

“We are now building that interface for patients not connected through UCHealth. Hopefully, this week or next, there will be access through our website to be able to sign up for vaccination,” Dr. Zane said.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says mass vaccination clinics are in the works in several counties. Until then, hospitals will be reaching out to individual patients.

The same goes for health care workers.

Many nurses, respiratory therapists, and even doctors have reached out to Denver7 asking when they will get their vaccine.

CDPHE says they hope to get to all Phase 1A health care workers by Jan. 15.
