11:20 a.m. | Update on COVID-19 in Colorado from health officials
During a press conference on Thursday, State Epidemiologist Dr. Rachel Herlihy said cases and hospitalizations for COVID-19 continue to decrease. She said we're getting back to levels we last saw in August and September 2021.
As of Feb. 13, about one in every 69 Coloradans was infectious, a number that she said is still high, but it is moving in the right direction.
Most Coloradans — 90% — are immune to omicron based on modeling projections and most are more protected against severe disease, she said.
COVID-19 Incident Commander Scott Bookman said the state's free high-quality mask distribution continues, with 437 locations. As of now, the state has distributed 4,193,400 masks. Visit covid19.colorado.gov/freemasks for details.
He said as the state and local jurisdictions begin to scale back on mask mandates and other COVID-19-related requirements, the state will keep its surveillance system in place and will scale back up to meet any future demands.
