2:31 p.m. | CDPHE recommends revaccination for patients of two clinics
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is recommending people who got vaccinated between Feb. 3, 2022 and June 28, 2022 at Wheatridge-based Colorado Family Clinic, located at 4990 Kipling St., in Wheat Ridge; and between October 9, 2021 and April 24, 2022 at Denver-based Servicios de la Raza at 3131 W 14th Ave., get revaccinated against COVID-19 because some of the vaccines at both of these locations were either properly stored or were administerd past their date-of-use date.
If Coloradans received a COVID-19 vaccine from Colorado Family Clinic between February 3, 2022 and June 28, 2022 they should reach out to the Vaccine Administration Clinical Support Team at cdphe_vacs@state.co.us. They can also call the COVID-19 vaccine call center at 1-877-COVAXCO (1-877-268-2926), available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. MT, and answers are available in multiple languages.
- For people who received one or two doses from Colorado Family Clinic between February 3, 2022 and April 16, 2022: Receive one dose of an age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Moderna and Pfizer are recommended over the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
- For people who received any number of doses from Colorado Family Clinic after April 16, 2022:
Receive the same number of doses of an age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Moderna and Pfizer are recommended over the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Space repeat doses according to CDC’s COVID-19 vaccination guidance.
In consultation with Moderna and Pfizer, and following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, CDPHE determined that individuals who received COVID-19 vaccines more than 14 days past the allowable refrigerated storage time should be revaccinated according to the guidance below. CDPHE encourages affected patients to talk with their health care provider with any concerns or questions about revaccination, but it's not required.
- For people who received one impacted dose from Servicios De La Raza: Receive one dose of an age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Moderna and Pfizer are recommended over the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
- For people who received two doses from Servicios De La Raza: Receive two doses of an age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible following routine vaccine spacing intervals per CDC COVID-19 vaccination guidance. Moderna and Pfizer are recommended over the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Patients can also use the CDPHE's full list of COVID-19 vaccine providers online to find a vaccine appointment with another COVID-19 vaccine provider or call our call center at 1-877-CO VAX CO (1-877-268-2926), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. MT. Help is available in multiple languages.

4 p.m. | CDPHE to postopone publishing COVID-19 data for Thursday
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) says it's not publishing its daily COVID-data for Thursday due to an electronic lab reporting (ELR) processing issue.
Officials say they're working on a solution to update the data as soon as possible.
12 p.m. | FDA issues new at-home COVID-19 testing guidance, asks people to test repeatedly for the virus
In new guidance issued Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recommending people take repeat COVID-19 tests if testing at-home to reduce the chances of spreading the virus in the community.
The new recommendations state people who test negative using an at-home COVID-19 test but who have flu or cold-like symptoms should test again 48 hours after the first negative test. If people test again and the test comes up negative and are concerned you may have COVID-19, the FDA states you should consider testing a third time, getting a PCR test, or call your healthcare provider.
If you don't have symptoms but believe you were exposed, you are asked to test 48 hours after the first test and 48 hours after the second test. If people test again and the test comes up negative and are concerned you may have COVID-19, the FDA states you should consider testing a third time, getting a PCR test, or call your healthcare provider.
If you get a positive result on a repeat COVID-19 test, you most likely have COVID-19 and should follow CDC isolation guidelines.
"The FDA recommends repeat testing following a negative result whether or not you have COVID-19 symptoms," the agency said Thursday.

3:47 p.m. | CDPHE updates COVID-19 variant dashboard to include BA.4.6, remove Delta as 'variant of concern'
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) updated its COVID-19 variant dashboard to include omicron subvariant BA.4.6, following CDC guidance which now splits this variant from BA.4.
"BA.4.6 is more prevalent in some midwestern states than in the rest of the country. Scientists are still working to learn whether this variant is more transmissible than more widely circulating variants of omicron, including BA.5. There is no current evidence that BA.4.6 causes more severe disease than other currently circulating variants," the CDPHE writes.
Additionally, the CDPHE will remove the delta variant from its current Variants of Concern list, as CDC has downgraded delta from a “variant of concern” to a “variant being monitored,” and it is not circulating in any meaningful way in the United States. State health officials say they still continue to monitor for the delta variant.
Less than 1% of all sequenced cases in Colorado were from the BA.4.6 variant, according to CDPHE data.
2:25 p.m. | State releases COVID-19 school guidance for 2022-2023 school year, makes free COVID-19 testing available again this year
The Colorado Department of Public Health released its COVID-19 guidance for the 2022-2023 school year and announced it will continue to provide free COVID-19 testing to schools. These steps build upon past best practices to protect in-person learning this school year.
The guidance focuses more on responding to clusters of cases, outbreaks, and evidence of ongoing transmission in schools, and less on individual case investigation, contact tracing, and quarantine following routine classroom exposures.
To preserve in-person learning and minimize the impacts on families and the greater community, schools are encouraged to continue working with public health to implement a layered approach to controlling the transmission of all communicable diseases among staff and students.
CDPHE will also again provide K-12 Colorado schools (public, private, charter, and tribal) with a free, voluntary, and statewide COVID-19 screening testing program for the 2022-23 school year. Weekly rapid antigen testing is available to all students, staff, and school volunteers.
The CDPHE says the change in guidance was done as Coloradans have reached high levels of protection from severe COVID-19 outcomes through both vaccination and infection — and the variants currently spreading, though more transmissible, are less severe.
