LITTLETON, Colo. — Usually when you consign out items you are either paid when they’re sold or you get your stuff back. But when a Littleton second-hand store shut down, many of its consigners say they didn’t get anything.
One of those consigners at Act II Consignment was Suzanne Cox. She dropped off a few clothing items to be put up for sale earlier in the year.
“And when I went to see if it had sold them, they were closed,” Cox told Contact7.
The store on Littleton Boulevard was closed. The sign was gone.
“I think they folded up like some businesses do and took off with my items,” she claimed.
Cox said she never received any payment either. Several other consigners told Contact7 the same thing, with amounts varying from tens to hundreds of dollars. Those consigners added that after the Littleton location of Act II was closed in June, a second location in Englewood abruptly closed in September.
Act II currently has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, with four complaints similar to Cox’s issue.
The store’s phone number in Littleton is now disconnected. The Act II website no longer exists. Contact7 tried calling the store’s owner and that number was also disconnected.
“It’s just that feeling of being taken advantage of,” Cox said.
The consigners that spoke to Contact7 say they don’t expect their money back at this point, and they don’t plan to take their grievances to court. They’re just disappointed that their experience with this second-hand store turned into a first hand disappointment.
