DENVER -- A partially collapsed apartment building with a gaping hole in the middle and mattress in front has not been touched since an explosion in mid-August. People who live and work in the area say the pile of debris is an eyesore.
"You know it would be nice to see it cleaned up or at least see some sort of progress. We've seen nothing over there," said Huff.
Huff was in her office at Blue White Pools when the building at 4th and Santa Fe Drive exploded. The blast was so powerful it shattered six windows and cracked a door frame.
The windows have been replaced but as Huff looks out she's reminded of that traumatic experience.
"We have no idea how long that building is going to be sitting there looking like that," said Huff.
She's also worried because a temporary fence surrounding the building is blocking the sidewalk. She has watched people walk in the street and then start running to avoid being hit by cars.
Denver7 attempted to find out why the building has not been cleaned up yet. A spokesperson with Denver Fire said their investigation at the explosion site was completed the next day and the building was turned over to the owner. A cause has not been determined yet.
The building's owner, Thomas Mulcahy, said "I have been informed not to discuss it." He would not say why the property has remained untouched or when it might be cleaned up.
