LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- A cell phone tower being built in a Lakewood neighborhood has residents upset.
Permits obtained by Contact7 show the construction going on in the back of an office complex near the intersection of W. Jewell Ave. and S. Newland St. is slated to be a 60-foot tall monopole tower.
Just behind the tower's construction, however, are homes — which is why neighbors are concerned about the impending tower. They're also upset because they claim no one notified them construction would began outside their backyard.
“I found out last Tuesday from some of the neighbors they were putting a cell tower right at the side of the office buildings in back of us. No one notified us. We knew nothing about it,” neighborhood resident Marylin Tate said.
The tower is being built by an independent contractor, but T-Mobile antennas are shown on the permits.
Contact7 reached out to both the contractor and T-Mobile for comment but did not hear back by deadline Monday.
