KIOWA, Colo. — A Kiowa resident said his way of life has changed ever since a gun range moved in feet away from his home.

Dan Klick moved to the Kiowa neighborhood 15 years ago and said there was an existing shooting range in business, several yards away.

“It was fine,” Klick said. “The original (shooting range) owner took care of that road for us. You wouldn’t hear too much as far as gunshots.”

However, less than a year ago he said everything changed when a new shooting range moved in feet from his backyard.

“You just can’t have breakfast,” he said. “You can’t have dinner out here. You’ll just be shouting just to talk to each other.”

Klick said he has attended meetings with his neighbors, and the owner of the new shooting range told them the plan on expanding.

The Town of Kiowa and owners of the new gun range were not immediately available to comment.
