DENVER – The DSST Stapleton High School baseball team came to their school on Saturday to find something missing.
Their trailer with all their baseball gear.
The reason they were at their school was to finish their captain’s, Phil Retzig, Eagle Scout project which was building a batting cage for the team.
According to head coach Bob Beatty, all the material to finish the batting cage project was in the missing trailer.
“Everything was in that trailer that somebody stole,” Beatty said. “It was about 10,000 dollars worth of stuff in that trailer. Baseball gear and all the stuff to build the batting cage. We’ve been working at it as a concept for about two years now.
The team filed a report to Denver Police who are investigating but do not have any suspects at the time.
According to Beatty, the trailer is an Atlas 2015. The license plate is 525RQM.
Beatty said the batting cage was about 70 percent complete. The team is trying to raise more money to finish the project.
“Whoever has the trailer, just unhook it from your car and leave it where it is and we’ll find it,” Beatty said. “Just give these boys back their trailer.”
The team has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for all the fence and all the gear they lost.
