LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Four months ago, Evin Bennett and his two sons were dealing with a flooded apartment and trying to salvage what they could.
"I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to do this," Bennett said back in July.
They were left to pick up the pieces after a flood ruined almost everything they owned.
"I think that are we never going to get a home again," his son Micah said.
What a difference a few months has made for the Bennett family.
On Sunday, thanks to Contact7 Gives and Denver7 viewers, we brought some help in the form of a $500 gift card to Target and 5 $100 gift cards to King Soopers.
After the donations were presented, Bennett shared some exciting news.
"I'm currently working on moving into a new house," Bennett said.
Bennett and his sons, Skylar and Micah, have been staying at friends' homes after the flood.
"We got Christmas coming up, and we're going to be in [the new house]," Bennett said. "It's exciting that I'm actually going to be able to spend Thanksgiving in my house."
It's a permanent home and some much-appreciated help for the family.
