DENVER — A terrifying car accident in Wyoming left a metro-area Boy Scout troop without their camping equipment or a way to haul it.

Boy Scout Troop 375 was camping in South Dakota and on their way back Saturday when a tow truck crossed the middle lane and hit their truck.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but everything in the trailer the truck was towing was destroyed, leaving the troop without camping gear for the rest of the summer.

"We managed to salvage a few things, but it was mostly clothes and bags and stuff. But the important stuff is just gone," Boy Scout, Nicholas Gunnoe, said.

The crash closed down Highway 85 in Wyoming for hours Saturday. It's still unknown why the tow truck veered across the highway.

The troop is hoping to raise money to buy more gear, as they have other trips planned this summer. The estimated value of the trailer and items in it is close to $15,000.
