LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- It’s been a tough go recently for Evin Bennett and his sons Skylar and Micah.
“Trying to figure out how I’m going to do this,” Bennett said.
We first shared their story Sunday after heavy rains flooded his apartment, ruining almost everything they owned.

After seeing his story on Denver7, his landlord saw the devastation and agreed to break his lease and return his deposit. On Monday, however, Bennett found out his insurance doesn't cover flooding.
“They said your insurance doesn’t cover floods that come from outside the house. It only covers if it comes from inside the house,” Bennett said.
Bennett needs a lot of help for him and his sons to get back on his feet. He has a troubled past and recently split from his wife who is serving time in prison for drug charges.
“I was doing fine. Looked like everything was looking up for me. Looked like there was a turn for the better,” Bennett said.
First, he is trying to find a place to live.
“I mean, I’m not going to have any furniture in my new house if I can find a place,” Bennett said.
But at the top of his mind is how to provide for his boys.
“I’d like to get them new toys because I know all their stuff is ruined. The dresser I had all their clothes in was pretty ruined. They need everything,” Bennett said, fighting back tears.
He's currently living in his mom's place in Englewood.
“But can only stay there for only a couple days because it’s a senior community,” Bennett said.
Which means he needs to make something happen quick so he and his boys can start fresh again.
“Hardest thing is I just don’t know where to start,” Bennett said.
