AURORA, Colo. -- Inside her trunk, Lynette Strong carries everything she needs to take care of her family.
"I breathe and live for them right now. That's what kept me going, was my dogs," said Strong.
After a "very bad break up," her two chihuahuas, Simba and Nala, have been with her through a difficult journey in the last month.
"I'm currently homeless, living, sleeping wherever I can, right now," she said. "They go to work with me. They go to eat with me. They go inside Walmart with me."
But early last Saturday morning, she said, she left them in their carrier in the back seat, with the windows rolled down and temperatures in the 60s while she showered at a friend's apartment in Aurora.
"So I go over there to shower thinking I can leave my dogs in my car for that 30 minutes to shower," she said. "But when I came back they were gone."
She has since reported the theft to police, combing shelters and hoping to spread the word.
"I just want my dogs back," she said, in tears. "I don't want no repercussions. I don't want to know who did it, just bring my babies, is all I ask."
