DENVER — A Colorado family says they are overwhelmed sense of comfort after they were finally able to lay a loving wife and mother to rest.

Denver7 introduced viewers to the family of Tin Aye after she contracted COVID-19 and died after a lengthy hospital stay. Aye worked at the JBS meatpacking plant in Greeley, where her family believes she contracted the coronavirus back in March.

After she passed away, her family struggled to afford a cremation and a tombstone seemed out of the question.

"My little brother and my dad we tried really hard to get one for my mom, a tombstone for my mom, and we couldn’t afford it. It’s too expensive," said San Twin, her daughter.

A Denver7 Gives account was set up in the family's name and donations started pouring in. In November, the family was able to visit a nearby cemetery to choose the perfect spot.

“The moment that I enter that cemetery I feel so warm in my heart," said San Twin.

Once the tombstone was engraved, Aye's family was finally able to hold a memorial service at the site and give her a proper burial.

"The peace, the peace. I don’t know how to describe it. I think that she have a good new home," said Twin.

Thanks to the generosity of Denver7 viewers, there was more than enough money to pay for the headstone. Fairmount Cemetery also waived a portion of the cost which allowed the remaining funds to go directly to the family.

Denver7 Gives used the money to present Twin and her dad with a check that will cover their mortgage for a month. They also received a gift card to purchase groceries.

"I want to say thank you so much to everyone, this has meant a lot to me. I don’t know them but they always stay in my heart," said Twin.
