UPDATE (Friday, Aug. 7): The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure said Friday that it has expedited safety improvements at the intersection that had been planned since February.
The department installed larger stop signs at the intersection of 1st Ave. and Cherokee Friday and turned the intersection into an all-way stop.
Spokesperson Heather Burke said crews will also be adding new street markings in coming days to help with pedestrian crossings.

DENVER -- Denver residents are calling it "a dangerous intersection," and another crash on Wednesday evening only helps to prove their point.
This time, a crash could have killed three people sitting outside a Denver brewery.
“We’ve been asking for two more stop signs, that’s it,” says co-owner of Novel Strand Brewing Company, Tamir Danon.
Neighbors near the intersection of 1st Avenue and Cherokee in the Baker neighborhood told Denver7 they are tired of the crashes, near misses and constant noise.
“I'm hearing a lot of honks and screeching,” said Baker resident Dana Trujillo Davis,.
The crash on Wednesday happened in front of Novel Strand Brewing Company.
“Today my brother almost died, my brothers fiancé almost died and their friend almost died,” Danon said.
Danon said all three are doing well.
After the crash, Baker resident Elizabeth Martin reached out to Contact Denver7.
“We’ve been slated for a stop sign for at least a year,” Martin said.
“We don’t need you to do a study, we don’t need you to do a review, we don’t even need you to justify the two stop signs in terms of money. Just put them there and we’ll all be happy and you’ll never hear from us again,” says Danon, of the neighbors asking for stop sign at that intersection.
