COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Adams 14 school board has once again voted on who will take over the struggling school district, and with few options left, chose MGT Consulting.
Last month, the Colorado State Board of Education rejected their decision to have Mapleton School District take over because that district did not meet the student achievement standards required.
“It really affects all three of my kids," Yvonne Ibarra said. "[MGT Consulting] has four years to make a turnaround or the state will make the recommendation to close us or go a charter. I’m ready to pull her out and put her somewhere else because why continue when we don’t know the future?”
Adams Schools District 14 has struggled with low test scores and falling graduation rates. The state gave the district a deadline to find an outside management team or they would take over.
The state now has 14 days respond to the district's latest choice.
