COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A woman was dragged more than 100 feet trying to stop a car thief in Colorado Springs Monday night.

The woman told police she was putting air in her tires at the Kum-N-Go on South Nevada Avenue at East Las Vegas Street around 6:40 p.m.

The woman told officers she was on the passenger side of her 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee when someone got into the driver's seat and started to drive away.

The woman said she pounded on the window, yelled at the suspect, then hung on as the suspect drove away.

She was dragged about 100 feet before she let go, police said.

The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts and bruises.

Officers said they were unable to find the 1995 teal Jeep Grand Cherokee. It had Colorado license plate 673QQX.

Police said the suspect was described as a white man in his 20's or 30's, with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a black and white baseball cap.
