DENVER — Touching hearts one at a time. It is the slogan of a Coloradan making a difference.
But it may not be the kind of heart most people are thinking of.
7Everyday Hero Jamie Roberson is focused on helping Dachshunds.
"Dachshunds are very energetic, they're very tenacious, they can be grumpy, so, they are little bit of different breed," Roberson said.
Roberson would know. She has been helping rescue Dachshunds for 15 years. The last five years, she has helped the little dogs through a non-profit she started.
"It's called Denver Dachshund Rescue and Transport," Roberson said.
The group has helped more than 2,000 dogs find forever homes, thanks to Roberson's dedication and sacrifice.
"She is very inspirational. She spends her entire life right now doing it," said Elizabeth Kupfner with Denver Dachshund Rescue and Transport.
Denver Dachshund rescues the dogs from various places both in and out of state.
"We bring them here, get them healthy, get them any bedding they need, and match them up with good homes," Roberson said.
It is a lot of work, but Jamie Roberson says it is her joy and passion to help Dachshunds.
"How many people get to spend their life helping and playing with dogs all day?" Roberson asked.
