GLENDALE, Colo. — The City of Glendale approved a development that’s expected to bring more entertainment venues and restaurants to the city.

The $175 million dining and entertainment development has been a long time coming, but there are still several steps before it becomes a reality and fills a nearly 10-acre field near Cherry Creek Street and Virginia Avenue.

Deputy City Manager Chuck Line called the Feb. 6 approval of the proposed 150,000-square-foot complex a major milestone after the project ran into several roadblocks over the past couple of years.

City officials say Glendale is in need of a large venue that would become the core of the city and cater to young people that make up the majority of the city’s population.

Glendale was the entertainment capital of the area 40 years ago but lost the title long ago when districts like LoDo took off and became a bigger draw. Line said they want to bring that feel back. It’s why they are calling this project "Glendale 180."

Lincoln Property Company out of Texas is the name of the company that will be in charge of the project.

The city could break ground as early as 2019 if the project gains full public approval.
