DENVER -- Summer camp and educational programs can expensive for families across Metro Denver.

"A lot of my friend's kids go to many different camps. And I looked into those camps and they are very expensive,” said Alicia Biggs.

Her two daughters will attend the Scholars Unlimited program in Denver. Offered at eight different sites, the program is free and offers educational and recreational opportunities for young children.

“This program, no matter how much money you make, or how much money you don't make, no matter where you are on the scales, this fits for your child,” said Biggs.

Students spend time in both the classroom and in recreational settings. Field trips, swimming lessons, cooking, even computer coding and drone programs are some of the classes offered at this program.

"In general, summer programs are really important for children,” said president Kathleen King. "Particularly children from lower-income backgrounds, [they] actually lose academic ground over the summer if they're not involved in some solid academic tutoring," she said.

"I think I found a diamond definitely in this program. It has been a blessing for my family, for my girls," said Biggs.
