Like many homeowners, Dave Palazzolo installed a security camera aimed at his driveway that detects any motion and automatically starts recording. Palazzolo was beginning to get annoyed by the alerts he received every evening like clockwork.

Each night, the same kid came by on his bike and took it upon himself to ride into the driveway, in Palazzolo’s words, “just tearing it up on the flat concrete.”

Now, Palazzolo is no stranger to riding, excitement, or adventure. He is an avid motorcycle rider and one of the founders of CanyonChasers Motorcycle Adventure, Sport and Touring. So after his annoyance wore off, his wife gave him a game-changing idea, and he ran with it.

Late one night, he went out to the vast, level driveway armed with chalk and created a winding racetrack for his young visitor, complete with entrance and exit arrows. Then, he waited. He didn’t have to wait long, however. As you can see in this video compilation of security camera footage he posted on YouTube, the little rider was back the next evening to try out the track.

The young rider took the bait and happily tackled the course not once, but twice. Every time rain washed the track away, Palazzolo created a new one. As he shared the footage with his team, they encourage him with new ideas. He found ways to use more of the driveway’s space to design a longer track with more twists, turns and even drawn-on road signs.

“I don’t know who’s having more fun with this,” Palazzolo said in the video, “him or me!”

Soon, others in the neighborhood gave in to temptation, giving the track a try: kids on scooters, moms with strollers and even some grown-up bicyclists were recorded giving it a shot.

And as the days rolled by, the little biker became more skillful and confident. Who knows? Maybe he’ll ride with Palazzolo and his friends one day.
