DENVER – It’s never too late to do some good around the community, especially when it involves putting a smile on someone’s face during the holidays.

Here are 7 ways you can help around the community before, during and after Christmas.

1. Adopt at homeless family for the holidays

About: Family HomeStead’s The Holiday Project is looking for volunteers who would like to adopt a homeless family this holiday season.

When: Ongoing until Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017

2. Give seniors socks this Christmas

About: Seniors at the Littleton Care and Rehabilitation Center

When: Flexible, the organization can work around your schedule

3. Set-up visits to nursing homes and hospitals during the holidays

About: The Holiday Project is looking for someone to organize and recruit team leaders to do visits during the month of December to nursing homes and hospitals.

When: Ongoing until Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017

4. Build a home for someone in need this holiday season  

About: Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is looking for volunteers to build homes at their Sheridan Square development in southwest Denver. You must be at least 16 years old and be available between 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a mandatory safety orientation you are asked to attend.

5. Helps the Salvation Army to distribute Christmas toys

About: The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help them pack up leftover Christmas toy gifs for their Christmas distribution day. You must be eligible to volunteer between two to three hours. Minors must be accompanied by adults.

When: Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

About: A Precious Child provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. The nonprofit needs your help during the Precious Gift Giving event.

7. Adopt-a-senior in Arapahoe County this holiday season

About: Arapahoe County Volunteer Connections needs volunteers to provide companionship to a senior this holiday season. You must be reliable and friendly, have an interest and/or experience working with seniors, be able to provide transportation and be at least 16 years of age.
