It’s not summer without a drive-in movie! Night at the Movies presented by the Denver Mart Drive-In is a family-friendly event that will raise program-critical funds for nearly 18,000 athletes and unified partners across Colorado. Enjoy a night out, socially distanced of course, and watch the The Peanut Butter Falcon; starring Special Olympics Florida Athlete Zack Gottsagen.

A modern Mark Twain style adventure story, The Peanut Butter Falcon tells the story of Zak (Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church). A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler (LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Together they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whisky, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor (Johnson), a kind nursing home employee charged with Zak’s return, to join them on their journey.

Event Details: Tickets must be purchased in advance. Doors will open at 7:30 on Thursday, August 13 with the movie beginning at dusk. Every car will receive a movie goodie bag full of fun snacks. There will also be food trucks, popcorn stands, cold beverages and bars on site. A percentage of food and beverage proceeds will go back to Special Olympics Colorado.

The Denver Mart Drive-In is a family, friendly venue and is a great supporter of Special Olympics Colorado. Organizers will have measures in place for social distancing where cars are parked one space apart. Additional information on the facility and Covid-19 precautions can be found on the Denver Mart Drive-In page.
