DENVER — Filled with thrills and chills, Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park kicks off its five weekends of Fright Fest fun on Friday evening.

This popular, family friendly Halloween event is open to younger guests during the day for Family by Day, and older visitors during the evening hours for Fright by Night.

Family by Day activities will begin at noon and run until 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Children are welcome to dress up in their costumes for a daily contest and search for free candy along the Trick-or-Treat Trail in Kiddieland. These younger can find family-friendly frights with creepy crafts, karaoke and a scream-it-out contest.

When the sun goes down, Fright by Night comes alive. Starting at 6 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, older guests can feel the hair raise on their arms as monsters, stalkers and mayhem is let loose in the park. Fright by Night is recommended for visitors who are at least 12 years old.

“Our team has been working around the clock to get the park ready for Fright Fest,” said Jolie DuBois, Elitch Gardens’ communications manager. “We have hung over 2,700 feet of cobweb, set up over 600 tons of wood paneling for props and haunted houses and ordered over 250,000 pieces of trick-or-treat candy.”

Fright Fest opens Friday and runs until Oct. 28. The festival is free with park admission. Some haunted attractions cost an additional fee. For more information on Fright Fest and tickets, click here.
