DENVER – Mixing vintage and modern pieces is a popular design trend many people are leaning toward these days to add a little Americana to their homes.
Denver7 anchor Theresa Marchetta and 5280 Home editor Hilary Masell Oswald recently checked out Old Glory on South Broadway to check out some of the elements that need to come together to make that style work.
“We are really seeing a lot of people pick a few older items that are conversation pieces and add that batina of time so not everything looks like it came brand new off the showroom floor,” Hilary told Theresa during their visit.
One of the hottest vintage items right now are bread boards. Many people hang them on their walls, but they can also be used in other parts of décor – home designers use them as bases to stack plants, books and other items on.
Mud cloth is another popular design trend. People in West Africa have been creating the hand-dyed textile for decades and now people around the world are using the bold designs on pillows, draperies and more.
