PARKER, Colo. -- Families are facing a new reality as school is set to begin with remote classes for many students. As they wonder what the school year will look like, a Colorado mom is hoping to easy fears about learning at home.
"So I mean if I can help someone, you know, say, 'hey, it’s really not that bad' and just kind of give them a little start in the right direction, I’d love to do that because I’ve been there and I know that feeling," said Kandee Cooley, a mom who's been homeschooling her daughter since Pre-K.
Cooley said she wasn't always planning to do homeschooling but she realized it worked for her family. She also knows many parents probably were planning to have their kids home this school year and she hopes her experience can offer some hope.
As school districts wrestled with decisions about what learning would look like, Cooley decided to start a blog where she will offer parents insight and advice.

"I think as long as you follow those schedules and do what you’re supposed to do, the rest of it... there’s so much you can do with it and I know parents still have to work and it’s still kind of a juggling act, but I guess it’s just if you change your perspective," said Cooley.
Cooley said she has an area set up in their home for school but they make time to find learning opportunities outside the home too.
"I find that having an area like that helps 'cause then I can say, 'I’m going to school' and I can go in there and immerse myself in school and when I’m done I can walk out of there and boom! I’m done," said Sophia Cooley, her daughter.
