DENVER – It may be getting cold in the Mile High City, but does a little chill really stop anyone from enjoying some time on the ice rink? We didn't think so.
Here are the 5 best ice rinks we found so you can practice your moves this winter.
1. Skyline Park ice skating rink – 1601 Arapahoe Street (16th St. Mall)
Nov. 21, 2017 – Feb. 14, 2018
Ice sake, fall, get up and repeat. Bring the whole family, a friend (or seven) or even that special someone for a fun day on the ice. Skate rentals are $8 ($6 for children 12 and under), but if you bring your own sakes, you get in free. Kids age 12 and under can rent skates for free on Sundays.
2. DEN Plaza ice skating rink – 8500 Pena Boulevard (Denver International Airport)
Nov. 24, 2017 – Jan. 7, 2018
What better wait to wait for your next flight than by hanging out at the DEN Plaza and go for a skating session? The ice skating rink at DIA promises some exercises after sitting so long during flights this holiday season. Skating at DIA is free.
3. The Rink at Belmar – 464 South Teller Street (Lakewood)
Nov. 16, 2017 – Jan. 7, 2017
If you’re looking to get away from Denver, then head out to Belmar in Lakewood. The Rink at Belmar will be open from Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tickets are $9.50 for an adult, $7.50 for children 12 and under, $5 for military service members. It’ll cost you $5 for skating without a rental.
4. Big Gear Ice Arena – 85980 Lowry Boulevard (Denver)
Dec. 6, 2017 – Jan. 5, 2018
This neighborhood ice-skating rink not only features public skating sessions and lessons, it also showcases hockey games and leagues.
Adults get in for $7 and children 12 and under only pay $5. There’s an extra $3 for skate rentals. Times for the public skating sessions vary, so make sure to check their schedule online.
5. Ice Centre at the Promenade – 10710 Westminster Boulevard (Westminster)
Dec. 1, 2017 – Jan. 7, 2018
A triple sheet of ice awaits you at the Ice Centre Promenade in Westminster this holiday season. Not all days are public skating days, so make sure to check their schedule to make sure when you can go (and when you’ll have the chance to meet Chipper, the center’s mascot).
Regular admission is $5, with a cheap skate admission of $3 on some days. Rentals start at an extra $3.50.
