DENVER – If you’re looking for a safe city to live in, the State of Colorado appears to have some good options, according to a new report from SafeHome.org.

The website’s America’s Safest Cities report has named at least three Colorado cities among its Top 101 safest cities in the country. Denver, however, is not one of them.

Thornton, Parker and Centennial made the list, which used data from the FBI as well as information provided from more than 13,000 law enforcement agencies to compile the report.

They also used the Chapman University Survey of American Fears, which highlights the crime rates of what Americans fear most, between violent crime and property crime rates, according to SafeHome.org.

The City of Thornton came at No. 32, with a safety score of 88.45, followed by Parker seven positions down at No. 39 with a safety score of 88.15 and lastly, Centennial which came in at No. 73, with a score of 86.21.

The report notes Thornton is a “rapidly growing city, increasing from 55,031 [people] in 1990, to an estimated 133,188 currently.”

Regarding Parker, the report stated it is “one of the most popular commuter towns to Denver” with many parks and trails for residents to enjoy.

And of Centennial, the report said its violent crime trend has decreased by 4.7 percent within the last year.
