These Genius Half-sized Christmas Trees Were Designed With Curious Pets In Mind

It’s almost time to start putting up those Christmas trees! But what about those of you who still grapple with how to keep your four-legged friends off the tree?

Tinsel, twinkly lights and plain old branches dripping with ornaments can be tempting for pups and cats. And let’s not fully blame our pets for messing with the tree. Toddlers and preschoolers also love to get their hands on those glass ornaments. Ouch! Fortunately, one company has come up with the perfect solution for curious critters and kids: a 6-foot Christmas tree that only has branches at the top!

It’s called a Parasol Christmas Tree and for good reason. It resembles those little umbrellas that act as the perfect sunshade when you’re out for a stroll:

We have to admit, the idea behind this tree is a great one. You can still string lights trunk to tip, so you don’t have to miss out on any of the festive sparkles. Plus, you don’t need to buy as many to really get that glow going.

And presents can still be piled up “under the tree,” even if it isn’t exactly traditional. In fact, it leaves Santa extra room to stack either more gifts or packages that are larger than usual.

Also, some people don’t have space for a large, full tree, so the Parasol Christmas Tree is the perfect alternative! Those who live in an apartment, in a small house or who just like to keep the holiday decorations to a minimum might find this tree the perfect fit in their home.

For those who like a wintry look for the Christmas tree, Argos also has a snowy version of the Parasol tree. No tinsel or spray snow required!

Here’s the catch, though. As of now, these top-heavy trees are only available in England and Northern Ireland. Keep an eye out, though. We have a hunch the U.S. will pick up on this trendy tree.

And if you’re looking for an unconventional Christmas tree with high branches for the holiday, maybe you can pick up a pre-lit artificial palm tree with which to deck the halls this season!

Happy decorating!
