A good reference letter can go a long way when job hunting. To help her in her search for a new gig, 8-year-old Sadie Rose wrote an impassioned letter of recommendation for her mom, Cindy Rose. The elder Rose took to LinkedIn to share her daughter’s sweet note and explain how it came to be.

“I was recently given notice that my job, along with many others, is being eliminated on Nov. 15th,” Rose, who was formerly employed as the senior director of the Women’s & Children’s Institute, Greater Sacramento Division of Dignity Health, wrote in her post on the employment-focused social networking site. “With that comes a full-on job search. My 8-year old daughter is very interested in the entire process. So yesterday she asked me what I got accomplished related to my search.”

She went on to explain that she told her daughter that she was working on obtaining reference letters to share with new potential employers, and Sadie asked if she could write her own.

“She googled ‘how to write a reference letter,’ and while I was in the bath last night she typed this without any assistance,” she wrote. “I’m so proud of her and tempted to actually use the letter. I mean, who knows me better than her?”

Good point! She attached a photo of the letter so her followers could read it for themselves, and it’s so sweet:

“To Whom It May Concern,” begins Sadie’s professional letter. “I am writing this letter of reference to tell you why you should choose my mom for your job.”

“My mom Cindy Rose has been a nurse for 26 years,” she continued. “For all the jobs she has had … she has been fantastic at them.”

Sadie was careful to point out all of her mom’s strengths as it relates to her career, including that she “cooperates with other people” and is “very hard working, kind and much focused.”

“If there is someone sick or hurt, she will take care of them,” she promised. “She will also motivate people to do their work.”

Leadership skills —now here’s a kid that knows what today’s employers are looking for!

“My mom is a business director but apparently jobs had to be removed to save money,” Sadie explained. “She will do anything to help a nurse or doctor take care of a patient. She would never be rude or neglect a patient or co-worker. She will make sure nothing is poor anywhere she works.”

What an endorsement!

People thought Sadie’s letter was just awesome, and the post has since gone viral, racking up more than 10,000 reactions and more than 800 comments.

In even better news, it appears that the letter is already stirring interest in Rose as a job candidate.

“Come to Arizona. We need more people like you,” commented LinkedIn user Leslie Marshalek, whose profile identifies her as nesting manager-senior customer experience manager at Santander Consumer USA/Chrysler Capital.

“Thank you! I am actually in the interview process with a hospital system in Arizona,” replied Rose. “I would LOVE to live there!”

Wow! Here’s hoping that Rose lands her next job soon. And we think this kid just may have a career in the recruiting business ahead of her.
