DENVER -- Electronic Scottish band Chvrches have been to Denver a few times already.
I saw them at the Ogden in 2014 after their first album "The Bones of What You Believe" was released. Their big electronic sound and catchy tunes provided for a good show that time and I knew this was a band on the rise.
The following year, they hit the Fillmore Auditorium with an even bigger sound and light show and showed more improvement performing live.
This year, they came back to Denver for not one - but two - sold out shows that were delayed because of some electrical problems with the venue. You can bet that didn't deter the band from performing better than ever!
After a few tours under their belt, you can rest assured they are now seasoned pro's! Iain Cook (synthesisers, guitar, bass, vocals) and Martin Doherty (synthesisers, samplers, vocals) provide the huge electronic sound that aims to keep up with the amazing vocals by the diminutive Lauren Mayberry (lead vocals).
Mayberry has the lung capacity of someone two feet taller and 100 pounds heavier than her - her vocals absolutely blew me away! Did I forget to mention the three-piece band could be heard all up and down Colfax? Suffice it to say all three members more than held their own, each contributing and performing their hearts out for the Colorado crowd.
Be sure to catch them next time they come to town, maybe they'll hit Red Rocks - they certainly have the performing chops to perform at one of the most beautiful concert venues across the United States.
