The festive holiday season is typically a family-friendly time of year, but it’s always good to have some adults-only options. For fans of the Tim Burton movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Dec. 20 is the date to keep free.

The Elysium nightclub in Austin, Texas, is hosting a festival devoted to the cult classic, and it’s strictly for fans age 18 and over. “The Nightmare Before Christmas” Gothic Ball and Bazaar will have video sing-alongs all night and a cast that includes “Jackie Skellington,” “Sal the Rag Doll,” Zero, Sandy Claws and Oogie Boogie. You’ll definitely be able to enjoy some photo opportunities with your favorite characters.

You’ll experience shadow casting performances from actors, local retail vendors and cocktails inspired by the movie (such as the “Sally,” which contains raspberry vodka, coconut rum and fruit juice). And don’t pack your Jack Skellington and Sally Halloween costumes away just yet — dressing up is strongly encouraged.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. local time and is hosted by DJ Crescendoll and DJ Neph, are on sale now from Eventbrite, with prices ranging from $10 to $13.

The perfect season for watching “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has been the matter of some debate recently, following an announcement from its composer Danny Elfman. Speaking to USA Today, Elfman said he didn’t see “The Nightmare Before Christmas” as a Christmas movie.

“It’s obviously about Christmas, but for me, it’s a Halloween movie,” he said. “Growing up, Halloween was my favorite night of the year and Christmas was a troublesome time. Into my adult years, it was a time where a bit of a dark cloud would follow me around — probably carrying over from my childhood until I had my own kids — and then I developed a new, brighter view of Christmas.”

Whether you agree with Elfman or not, Dec. 20 is all about Jack Skellington, Behemoth, Dr. Finkelstein and the rest of the Halloween Town residents — in Austin, Texas at least.

And if you can’t make it to Elysium to join in the fun, you can always rent the movie from Amazon Prime and have a “The Nightmare Before Christmas” party of your own. Don’t forget your bat bow-tie.
